In the beginning....

...there was a dream - well, several dreams actually: strolling in St. Peters Square, standing in the shadow of Pisa, floating the canals of Venice, meeting family in Prague, crossing the Alps by train, lingering over coffee in a Parisian sidewalk cafe...

Then came convergence... the graduation of Serge, Lyn's birthday, Joe completing his doctorate (well two out of three isn't bad)...

Followed by preparation - now nearly completed: an itinerary, reservations, travel guides, the right luggage, passports, clothing, SHOES, the dispensable and the not so... and the blog!

So, here we shall meet you over the next three weeks, to share snapshots and snippets, as we savor the sights, sounds and flavors of our ... Escape to the Continent!
